McMillan's first statement (dated Sunday March 9th 1986)

This was the day Eddie and Frank were arrested for the assault on Alexander Armstrong.
This statement was mainly concerned with the Armstrong affair. She stated that on the day when Frank and Eddie were alleged to have attacked Armstrong, Eddie came home drunk. McMillan produced her diary entry for the day to prove it.

McMillan's second statement (also dated Sunday March 9th 1986)

In this statement she said that on the night Raffle disappeared, Eddie was at home all day and all night. There was, she said, no doubt about it. Again, she produced her diary as confirmation. She stated further that, according to her diary, she and Eddie had gone out to buy her son Tony's Christmas present. (This should be compared with Eddie's own statement.) Eddie was, she stated, at home on the evening of December l5th l985 and had only spent one night out of the house in the recent past, November 30th 1985. On that occasion, Eddie had been at Frank's home, repairing cars. McMillan was clear that Eddie had not been out of the house on the night of Raffle's disappearance.

McMillan's third statement (dated Wednesday March 12th 1986)

By this time, Eddie had been in police custody for three days, during which time McMillan had been visiting him three times a day.
Now she stated that Eddie had been out of the house all night. She made no attempt to explain her change of direction or how the false entry had got into her diary in the first place. She gave her diaries to the police. They subsequently disappeared from police safe-keeping.
She finished her statement by saying that she lent Eddie £10 on the following morning, although the significance of this was not made clear. (Perhaps the implication was that Eddie could not have stolen money from Raffle's body if he needed to borrow the next day. Why mention this if Eddie had not known Raffle had money on his body - see Eddie's statement.)
